/ AI Payment Recovery for Subscription Businesses

Most of your churn never chose to leave.

A card expired, the charge was declined, and the dunning emails went to a promotions folder. They still want the product and do not know they have lost it. Cora calls them before the plan lapses.

They never chose to leave.

20–40% of subscription churn is an expired or declined card rather than a decision — Recurly benchmarks

Still a customer

The sequence is what Cora does, not a promise about how often it works — how many come back depends on your customers, not on us.

From a declined card to a paid invoice, by phone.

Connect Stripe and Cora works the failed charges before they become cancellations.

01

Connect Stripe

A read-only key, about a minute. Cora sees which charges failed and which subscriptions are about to lapse because of it.

02

She calls before the plan lapses

A real conversation: she says she is an AI, explains that the card was declined, and asks whether they want to stay. Most of them did not know.

03

New card, same checkout

A secure link to your own payment provider, sent on the call and paid right after it. She never asks for a card number, so your PCI scope does not move.

Built for the churn nobody chose.

This churn was never a decision

An expired card is not a customer leaving. They still want the product and will keep paying — if somebody tells them before the plan lapses.

A call outranks the fourth email

Dunning email lands in a promotions tab and asks them to go find their wallet later. A call gets it done while they are already thinking about it.

The ones who did mean to leave

If they wanted to cancel, Cora records that, stops calling, and hands you the reason — which is worth more than another retry.

The limits are in code, not in a policy

She says she is an AI, never asks for a card number, never threatens, and stops for good when asked. Checked before a call is placed, not audited afterwards.

Failed payments, answered.

How much of our failed-payment churn will Cora recover?

We will not quote you a number, because anyone who does is guessing about your book. What we can say is what changes: the subscribers Cora calls are ones nobody calls today. The dunning emails went out, they were not opened, and the account aged quietly to 30, 60, 90 days. The comparison is usually against zero touches by phone, not against your current process. Start with the free ten accounts and measure it on your own customers instead of on our estimate.

Which billing systems can we connect?

Stripe today, connected in a couple of minutes with a restricted key you generate yourself and scope to reading invoices and customers. QuickBooks, Xero, Chargebee and Recurly are not self-serve yet: tell us which one you use and we connect it with you on a short call. On the CRM side HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive are live, which is usually where the phone number lives when your billing system only has an email address.

Does Cora take card details over the phone?

No, never. Cora does not ask for, hear, or store a card number, and that limit is built into the call, not left to the script you write. When someone wants to pay she sends a secure payment link to your own payment provider and they pay in the same checkout they would have used anyway. The money settles into your account — it never passes through Cora. Card data never touches our systems, so your PCI scope does not move.

Will our subscribers know they are talking to an AI?

Yes. Cora says she is an AI assistant at the start of every call. That disclosure is enforced in code — if you write your own opener and leave it out, it is added back before she dials — because it is what the EU AI Act requires and it is what an honest call sounds like. In practice it costs less than people expect on a failed payment: the customer wanted the subscription, and someone who can fix the card in ninety seconds is welcome.

Is this debt collection? Do collections rules apply?

Cora calls your own subscribers about your own invoices, on your behalf. That is first-party accounts receivable rather than third-party debt collection, which is a meaningful legal distinction in most jurisdictions. On top of that she enforces call-frequency caps, quiet hours, and an immediate hard stop the moment somebody asks not to be called again — in code, not in a policy document — and every call is transcribed and logged for you. We are not your lawyers: if you operate somewhere with specific rules on contacting people who owe you money, confirm your setup with counsel before you go live.

What does the free tier actually include?

Ten overdue accounts worked, once, with no credit card. The unit is an account, not a call: Cora may ring the same subscriber more than once and it still counts as one of your ten. Connecting your sources, syncing, de-duplicating and seeing your full past-due list with the total outstanding is free and unlimited — that part is your own data and is never gated. You only move to a paid plan when you want her working more than the first ten.

See what ten accounts bring back.

Look at your own failed charges, and let Cora work the first ten free. No card, and the money lands in your payment account, never in ours.
